Number of the beast

Currently ‘Haunted Design House’ is celebrating its milestone of reaching 666 followers and I really wanted to join the party. They chose the Iron Maiden song ‘Number of the beast’ as their theme for this fortnight’s challenge. I really had to wreck my brain, but last night I finally came up with an idea!

Here’s my interactive  house shaped ATC :

My boy lollipop

Dilly Beans wants us to be inspired by a song. I’ve been listening to the ‘album top 500’ all evening, so plenty of inspiration to go by. This song hasn’t popped up (yet), but that Dilly Beans image just screamed to be picked to illustrate this particular song!

I also would like to enter this atc into the ‘PunkyouGirl challenge: Things with wings‘.

Thanks for popping in!

To each his ground on which to flourish…

Writing in my art journal is getting more and more important to me these days. I’d like to share with you a page I created to commemorate a wonderful person who died of cancer  at the age of 47.  Despite the sad occasion, I managed to turn it into a bright and positive page, for that totally reflects his own state of mind.  The idea for this page has been slumbering in my mind ever since Dan died two years ago, but I’m so glad I finally created this spread, for it helps me cope and I’m sure it will bring back many happy memories every time I’ll look at it.

Journal10_ToEach3

I incorporated a photograph I took many years ago, but I blurred it a bit, for I don’t want to share anyone’s picture without their permission.

I’d like to enter this journal spread into a the following challenges:

The quote I used for my pages comes from a beautiful song called ”To each his storm’ by ‘Rome’:

If this journal spread inspires you in any way (the colours, the theme of nature/trees, your favourite song quote, the theme of commemoration/illness …) in creating your own, please feel free to  post a link to your creation in my comments, so that I can have a look!

Spiderman is having me for dinner tonight…

Hello there, don’t be scared! It’s just a journal page dedicated to ‘Lullaby’, a song that is very special to me because it introduced me to The Cure in 1989 and I’ve been a big fan of their music ever since. We will even be heading to the UK for a special concert in the Royal Albert Hall in March…I’m so looking forward to it!

This is my entry for the current ‘Rock N Rolla challenge’ at the Smeared and Smudged forum.  I’d also like to enter this page into the ‘Hit the right note’ challenge currently running on the Craftitude challenge blog.

Here’s the video that inspired me :

A journal page inspired by a song

Yay! One of my New Year’s resolutions is trying to make more journal pages and here’s the first one of 2014!

Journal07_RedQueen

The musically challenged blog wanted us to create something inspired by an Alice in Wonderland themed song. This journal page is based on a song called ‘Red Queen’ by the band ‘Funker Vogt’. I love this song, as both the lyrics (read them here) and music are beautiful. If you have become curious, feel free to listen :

As I’ve used lots of Stampotique stamps, I’d also like to enter this page in Stampotique Designers Challenge 129 ‘Anything goes’.

Stamps/images used

  • Stampotique: Gooseneck, Relaxin (poor fellow, I cut his legs), Angel (poor thing, I cut her wings), Halloween cube (skull)
  • Cherry Pie: card suits and Alice in Wonderland text swirls
  • Stampinback: Playing cards
  • Stampers Anonymous: various texture stamps
  • Deviantscrap Finecrafted Designs’AliceInZettiland’: floor image

If sadness is a colour …

Hello there! It’s been way too long since my last blog post, but I’ll try to be a better girl from now on (with Santa approaching and all…)!

Here are two ATCs inspired by a song peformed by a Belgian artist called ‘Stash’.

I’d like to enter both ATCs into the following challenges:

The first ATC also fits the theme ‘Faces’ currently running at:

Stamps used

  • Face: Third coast stamps
  • Design scrap: Stampers Anonymous
  • Border: Technique Tuesday

Inspired by a song… a rather creepy one

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a creepy card! Soon you’ll start thinking that I’ve been kidnapped and someone else has taken over my blog!

Well, it’s still me posting, and here’s the proof:

This card was inspired by the song ‘Witches Brew’ by a Dutch band called Omnia. It’s a tribute to Shakespeare of course. I couldn’t find an official video, but if you would like to listen, here’s a slideshow video made by a fan:

I’d like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Stamps used

  • Poem: Stamp Francisco
  • Witch: unknown
  • Bats, spiderweb, wire: Tim Holtz
  • Spider, bird and owl: Martha Stewart

Time ATC

I’ve been posting lots of cards lately (which is very unlike me), so here’s an ATC:

Just in time for the following challenges:

The sentiment was computer generated. It refers to a song by The Rolling Stones.

Stamps & images used

  • Steampunk girl: Altered Artifacts
  • Frame: Stampers Anonymous
  • Crackle: Hampton art
  • Clock; Cherry Pie

Embossed ATC

Today, I finally found the time to do some crafting and I had a great time! Here’s an ATC I made:

I know, this is a song quote that I’ve used before (here and here), but it just keeps inspiring me.

I’d like to enter this ATC into the following challenges:

Now, let me introduce you to my favourite technique: heat embossing. I love using this technique in my work, the melting powder is like magic, alchemy! For example, I often tend to create a heat embossed border as a finishing touch to my atc, or I heat emboss the main image or (a part of) the background. I also love to use heat embossing to create a cracked glass look.

This time I tried something new: (triple) heat embossing combined with dry embossing and sanding. Really fun to do! You can watch the tutorial here.

Stamps used

  • Heart: Tim Holtz
  • Sentiment: Scrolls Work

A heart that hurts…

Well, I know, I’ve been rather quiet the last couple of weeks. Maybe that’s because I’m not a big fan of  Valentine, and of course this theme is omnipresent at this time of the year.  We often tend to forget that it might be a difficult period for those who have no one by their side or who’ve lost a loved one.  Only two weeks ago my best friend lost her loving husband, and so for the first time in 17 years he won’t be by her side on Valentine’s day.

So this ATC is my tribute to all people who lost a loved one.

This was meant to be my entry for the Haunted Design House ‘Shot through the heart’ challenge, but I didn’t finish it in time. Fortunately, I still can enter it into this week’s challenge, which is ‘Freaker’s free for all‘.

It’s also my entry for Studio L3’s Holtz-ian ATC challenge. I used a Stampers Anonymous heart stamp, an Idea-ology game spinner and Ranger’s Glossy Accents. The computer generated sentiment is an extract of the song ‘Bright lights’ by Placebo (I already shared it with you in this post).
