My favourite winged creatures

I had this lovely butterfly postage stamp that I wanted to use on an atc, so I decided to combine it with stamped images of dragonflies and mail art stamps.

The background is painted with gesso and sprayed and dripped with Dylusions inks. The edge of the card has been gold embossed.

This is my entry for the following challenges:

Longing for sunshine

We’re probably all dreaming of a white Christmas here in Belgium, but we’re only getting rain, rain and more rain!  This foul weather really makes me long for bright and sunny days, so I thought it’d be fun to show you one of my springtime/summer projects.

Colourful butterfly ATCs

Here’s a series of ATCs I haven’t shared on my blog yet:

Out of a hat creations wonders what our favourite technique or product is. I have so many, but I’ve recently discovered the Dylusions sprays and I instantly fell in love with them. The colours are so bright and I really love how the sprays react to water. This is also my entry for ‘winged things’ challenge over at ‘Crafty Cardmakers‘. The butterflies and all other stamps are Stampers Anonymous.

Colourful butterly and flowers atc

Again an ATC to share with you:

In reality, there’s a bit of bling involved, for the silhouette flowers on both the square and the background were inked with distress inks and sprayed with perfect pearls before being stamped.

I’d like to enter this atc into two challenges:

 Stamps used

  • Butterfly: The Artistic Stamper
  • Silhouette flowers: Hero arts
  • Script background: Darkroom Door
  • Papillon sentiment: Katzelkraft

Stampotique Designers challenge CASE

This fortnight we are challenged to CASE one of the Stampotique Designer’s. This means we should copy one of their projects and steal everything. I chose to copy two candle projects by Nelly Van Leeuwen. Here’s the result:

Here are Nellie’s projects that inspired me: http://dutchstamptramp.wordpress.com/2011/09/15/stampotique-candles/ and http://dutchstamptramp.wordpress.com/2011/08/09/stampotique-trio-2/.

I’m so happy I finally tried this technique of transferring stamped images on candles! I really have been wanting to try this for ages. You can find a tutorial here.

Winged things

Halloween being my favourite holiday of the year, I should be creating lots of Halloween projects at the moment, but instead, it seems that I’m still dreaming of the summer that was over before it even begun…

Both Crafty Individuals and Simon Says Stamp and Show want to see winged things, so I’ve indulged in making a number of butterfly ATCs:

Those will be heading to Finland for an international ‘anything goes’ swap.

Stamps used

  • Crafty Individuals: flower squares,  script background and ‘the earth laughs… ‘
  • Art Journey: flower (used in background of the 1st atc)
  • Katzelkraft: papillon sentiment
  • Stampinback: bookpage background
I mainly used watercolour techniques, sometimes combined with an embossed resist. The butterflies were punched out.
