Embrace imperfection

Yeah, my creative juices are flowing again! After watching one of Tam’s wonderful  Art, Heart and Healing tutorials @ the Willowing network, I’ve even ventured to try out something new! In week 2 of this free course Tam very clearly explains how to do an image transfer, which I’ve been wanting to try this for ages. So, this grungy ATC features my very first Golden gel Medium image transfer:

For the background I used alcohol inks and gesso. The stamps are Tim Holtz. The image is copyrighted by Altered Artifacts. I used a Tim Holtz tool to distress the edges.

Actually, there’s a story behind this ATC. Although I was originally very happy with how the transfer of the boy came out, I really had to stop myself from throwing away my ATC.  I felt I’d completely ruined it after the recipient I was using to stamp the gessoed circles with  accidentally fell out of my hand and covered up the boy’s left eye.  However, I thought to myself: “What the heck, this ATC is featuring the sentiment ’embrace imperfection’  so why not live up to it!”. After all, it IS my first image transfer ever, which is special to me, and maybe  it can become a special treasure to someone else out there too!

I’d like to enter this ATC to the following challenges.

UPDATE: I’ve decided to put this ATC up for raffle – ONLY for the members of the Flickr-group http://www.flickr.com/groups/atc_raffles/. The winner will be drawn on 31 August. What do you have to do to win?
1) You have to have your own (free) Flickr-account (http://www.flickr.com).
2) Be or become a member of the Flickr-group http://www.flickr.com/groups/atc_raffles/.
4) If you win, you will have to post an ATC of your own for raffle @ the Flickr group.
If you’re not eligible because you don’t have a Flickr-account, do not despair! Later this year I will surely organise other giveaways that are open to everyone.
And the winner of the raffle is …. drumroll…
Congratulations, Autumnsensation, this ATC is coming your way!

  4. What a wonderful piece of art. Definitely a treasurel So glad you didn’t throw it away. I actually thought you had put the white ring there on purpose just to make it look aged/distressed! Great job with the TH technique challenge. So happy you joined in the fun with us this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show.
