I often find inspiration in song lyrics for my creations, and this particular one was inspired by ‘Endless skies’, a song by VNV Nation. I didn’t find an official video for this song, so I included the following one featuring the lyrics:

Hello there, happy New Year to all you crafty people out there! I’d like to share a new card with you.

The background was created by smudging broken glass distress stains, evergreen bough distress ink and pearl paint dabbers on my craft sheet. I used a Tim Holtz folder to emboss the trees, which I then cut out. I covered them with a layer of crackle paint and and added a layer of pearl paint dabbers. The icicles and flourish were heat embossed.

Clean and simple embossed stars

Here’s a clean and simple Christmas card that I’d like to share with you:

The stars have been punched out using a die cut. After decorating them using stamps, I covered them with Versamark and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

Inspired by Tim Holtz

Studio L3 Grungy Monday wants to see our projects inspired by Tim Holtz’ 12 tags of Christmas 2011. I took inspiration from Tag n° 4, my favourite tag of this year’s series (so far, there’s still one tag to go). Here’s the result:

As there are lots of Tim Holtz products that I don’t have, I had to be creative. I substituted his snowman die cut for his snowman embossing folder and I cut out the embossed snowman manually (I used paper instead of grungeboard). I also don’t have the picket fence distress Stain, but I discovered that Pearl acrylic paint dabbers combined with broken china distress stain also produce wonderful results.

Here’s a more detailed picture, but i’m afraid it’s impossible to show the card’s real colours and texture on pic:

Instead of punching ’25′ out of the snowman, I punched snowflakes out of the background, I added a stamped paper behind it (music sheet) and then I filled up the snowflakes with Glossy Accents.

I quite like my Tim inpired card and, what’s more important, I really enjoyed creating it!

A Christmas fairy in non traditional x-mas colours

Stampotique wanted to see x-mas cards in non-traditional colours (i.e. no red and no green) and Sunday Postcard Art wanted to see Christmas fairies. Here’s my take on both challenges:

The scan doesn’t really show the fairy’s pink skin and the purple bling of its wings.

The background was made using broken china distress stain and pearl acrylic paint dabber and the moon and the stars were embossed and painted with perfect pearls.

A couple of cards for a couple of challenges

The last couple of days I’ve been very busy making Christmas cards. At first, I didn’t have much inspiration, but art cards challenge blog encouraged me to try a technique called retiform (with post-it masks) and once I did, there was no stopping me! Here’s a selection of the cards I made:

Both Ink on my fingers and Simon Says stamp and show want to see some stars. Here’s my atc:

Sorry for the bad scan. In reality there’s more bling involved as I sprayed the background with glimmer mist and I painted the moon with perfect pearls. I also added some perfect pearls to the fairy image.

Tim’s tag techniques

The Stamp Man Challenge Blog wants us to be inspired by one of Tim Holtz’ previous Christmas tags. I chose his first tag of 2009 and turned it into an ATC-sized card:

As I don’t have white stickles and white paint dabbers, I used white and holographic embossingpowder and glossy accents to create a frosted look (unfortunately neither the holographic powder nor the glossy accents show on scan). I also had to omit the flourish die cut and the grungeboard, but I’m still quite pleased with how my atc turned out. Pretty cooooool, huh? I really enjoyed following Tim’s instructions and now I’m even more looking forward to Tim’s 12 Tag of Christmas 2012!
